Is there anything I should know before I come for a ride?
Many people ask us - is there anything I should know before I come for a ride? Typically they mean - what should I wear? Should I bring anything? Those answers are easy - you will be most comfortable in long pants (reduces the chance of chafing!) and closed-toed shoes (easier to keep your feet in the saddle). Leave behind anything like purses or backpacks that can bounce around and jiggle as you ride. Can you bring your phone and take pictures along the way while you are riding? For sure - just make sure to keep it in a pocket where it won’t fall out. We do have a couple of fasionable Bum Bags if you need to borrow them. And, if you are a woman who wears size 7 boots you are in luck - we have a few pairs of well worn in, very authentic looking Ariat cowgirl boots that you can borrow as well!
But, beyond those basics, is there anything you should know before you come for a ride? Well, you should know that the horses love to take you riding - they want to connect with you, they want to share your joy in riding them. Really. Your energy impacts their energy, and vice versa. It doesn’t mean you have to know what you are doing - they are actually quite used to helping beginners find their ‘seat’ and learn how to ride. Each horse has its own personality, its own temperament, likes and dislikes. If you are paying attention, you can tune in to those to deepen your connection with your horse as you ride.
