Will I be horseback riding on the beach?

Yes! We start our ride at the ranch, walk along scenic estuary trails and a river, and then out along Playa La Mision, one of the most beautiful stretches of beach that Northern Baja California has to offer!

Do I need a reservation?

We do all our horseback rides by reservation. Please use our booking page to reserve your ride. Please arrive 15 minutes before your reservation time so that we can get you ready to get out on the trails!

Where are you located?

We are in beautiful Playa La Mision, Baja California. We are about 40 miles south of the US/Mexico Border (San Diego/Tijuana). We are right on the boundary between Rosarito (to our north) and Ensenada (to our south). We are about 45 minutes from the Ensenada cruise ship port. The easiest airport for flying in from the US is San Diego. From Mexico or other Central and South American destinations is Tijuana.

How far are you from the Ensenada cruise ship port?

We are about 45 minutes from the port. We work with a taxi service that can bring you to and from the port with plenty of time for a stop along the way back at a local favorite taco stand, to get some photo opps, or to experience the best of Ensenada tourist kitch!

Do you have options for non-riders in my group?

We do! If you have any non-riders in your group we are happy to offer a horsemanship experience for them to get to experience some of the magic of our ranch and our horses, while staying firmly on the ground! When booking just let us know.

What do I need to bring/wear?

Just yourselves! You will be most comfortable on your horseback ride in closed-toed shoes and long pants. Leave backpacks, purses, and flowy clothing behind - it will only get in your way. If you want to bring your phone, make sure you have a secure pocket to keep it in.

Do you provide transportation?

We can help you arrange transportation from downtown Ensenada or the Ensenada Cruise Ship port as well as from Rosarito and Tijuana. The cost depends on your location and number of people. Just let us know so that we can arrange this for you.

Is there an age or weight limit?

We do not have specific age or weight limits for our horseback rides. Generally children 4 years old and younger will ride with a parent on their horse. Children 4-6 years old generally ride on their own horse with one of our guides leading the horse for them. Children 7+ (including adults!) can be lead on their horse if they feel more comfortable.

Do I need previous horseback riding experience?

Absolutely not! We take riders of all ages and all riding levels. Whether you are a novice horseback rider or have ridden all your life, we’ve got the horse and the experience for you!

Can I gallop?

Our horseback ride begins through the trails where we walk and you can get comfortable with your horse. When we get to the beach where there is more room you are welcome to try going faster - trotting or even galloping. Our guides will help you along the way, in addition to getting great photo and video footage of your ride.

What is your maximum group size?

Generally we do not take groups of more than 10 at a time. If you have a larger group please contact us so that we can work to accommodate you.

Can you accommodate special needs?

We are more than happy to work to accommodate special needs. Please let us know of your particular situation in advance so that we can plan accordingly.

How does payment work?

We can accept payment online or in person the day of your ride. Payment can be in pesos or in US dollars, PayPal, or credit card.

What if I need to cancel?

We reserve your riding time for your group. If you need to cancel, please let us know ASAP so that we can make the horses/time available for others.
